What are the protection functions of an AC motor controller?


Short circuit protection: When a sudden increase in current is detected in the motor circuit, indicating a possible short circuit, the controller will immediately cut off the power.

Overload Protection Through a thermal relay or electronic protection module, when the motor operating current exceeds a certain percentage of the rated value, the controller will cut off the power or reduce the current to prevent the motor from overheating and damage.

Phase Loss Protection Detects three-phase current imbalance to prevent motor damage caused by phase loss.

Under-voltage/Over-voltage Protection Prevents abnormal voltage from damaging the motor. When the motor's input voltage exceeds or falls below the set safety range, the controller stops the motor.

Inverse Time Overcurrent Protection The larger the fault current, the shorter the protection action delay. This is closer to the characteristics of motor failure, making inverse time overcurrent protection more advantageous.

Three-Phase Imbalance Protection If the three-phase currents are unbalanced, it may damage the motor, so the controller provides protection.

Overheat Protection Monitors the motor temperature using a temperature sensor. When the temperature exceeds the safety threshold, the controller reduces the current or stops the motor to prevent overheating.

Ground Fault Protection Monitors the motor's grounding status. If a ground fault occurs, the controller cuts off the power to prevent electric shock and equipment damage.

Overspeed Protection When the motor speed exceeds the set maximum value, the controller takes measures to reduce the speed or stop the motor to prevent damage caused by excessive speed.

Underspeed Protection If the motor speed is below the minimum value, it may mean that the motor is stuck or the load is too large, and the controller will stop the motor.
